Nannu to Contest in Upcoming BCB Elections

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) held a meeting last Monday, following which announcements regarding the upcoming elections were made. It has been confirmed that the current president, Aminul Islam Bulbul, will contest once again. Now, it has also been revealed that Minhajul Abedin Nannu, the former national team selector and ex-cricketer, will be standing for election as a BCB director.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Nannu disclosed that he would be contesting under the former captains’ quota, which falls under Category C of the election system. From this category, only one director is elected to the BCB board.

He stated: “I had been considering this for some time. The former captains have a reserved quota in Category C. I am still not entirely sure how the process will unfold, but I have kept my thoughts positive. If everything goes as planned, I will certainly contest.”

Nannu further highlighted his long-standing involvement with the BCB: “I have been associated with the board for a long time. I know exactly what needs to be done, where improvements are necessary, and which areas require more focused work. This opportunity will allow me to contribute more deeply and get more involved in the development of cricket. I am moving forward with this mindset.”

The BCB board comprises 23 elected directors, chosen across three categories:

Category Representation Number of Directors Elected
Category 1 Districts & Divisions 10
Category 2 Clubs 12
Category 3 Public universities, former cricketers, institutions 1

In addition to these 23 elected directors, the National Sports Council (NSC) appoints two directors to the BCB board.
