One Killed in Bomb Blast During Cricket Match in Pakistan

At least one person has been killed and several others injured in a bomb explosion during a cricket match in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to the local news outlet Dawn.

Details of the Incident

Waqas Rafiq, a police officer from Bajaur district, reported that the blast occurred at the Kausar Cricket Ground in Khar Tehsil, located in the north-western province. Officials stated that the explosion involved a high-tech device and appears to have been a deliberate attack.

A video of the incident circulating on social media shows the sudden explosion throwing people into panic, with spectators running in all directions. Large portions of the area were enveloped in smoke. One person died on the spot, while several others—including children—were injured and are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Related Recent Attack

Last Saturday, a separate terrorist attack took place in Lowi Mamund, Laghari district, Punjab. In that incident, two individuals were injured, including a police officer.

Victim Status
Constable Mohammad Habib Injured
Nazib Khan (Civilian) Injured
Parked Vehicle Damaged

The attackers reportedly used a quadcopter to target a police station as part of the operation, although their attempt failed. No group has claimed responsibility yet. Authorities suggest the recent attacks may be linked to Operation Sarbakaf, conducted a few weeks ago to apprehend terrorists.

Police Response

Israr Khan, the public relations officer of the district police, confirmed that all the injured were immediately transported to Khar District Headquarters Hospital for medical care. Security forces continue investigations to prevent further incidents in the region.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant while attending public gatherings, including sports events, as investigations into the blast continue.
