Mitchell Santner, who recently underwent surgery, is currently in rehabilitation and has not yet fully recovered. He will require several more weeks before returning to the field, which means he will not feature in New Zealand’s upcoming T20 series against Australia.
In the absence of their regular captain, the New Zealand side will be led by Michael Bracewell for this series. Kane Williamson had already announced his decision to miss the series, so the experienced batter will also be absent.
In addition to Santner and Williamson, New Zealand will miss several other regular players due to injury:
Speaking about the series, coach Rob Walter said: “Losing the captain is never ideal, but these things happen. Michael [Bracewell] has led the side before and performed excellently. We have complete confidence in his ability to guide the team in this series.”
The three-match T20 series will be held on 1st, 3rd, and 4th October, with all matches taking place in Mount Maunganui.
