Police Shoot Dead Two Suspects in Attack on Disha Patani’s Home

On 12 September, unknown assailants opened fire at the residence of Bollywood actress Disha Patani. The attack is believed to have been linked to controversial remarks involving two spiritual gurus in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. Two gang groups, led by Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara, later claimed responsibility for the incident on social media.

Five days after the attack, police reported that they had killed two suspects in an encounter. The deceased have been identified as Rabindra and Arun, both alleged members of the Goldy Brar–Rohit Godara gang. Authorities recovered a pistol and several cartridges from the suspects at the scene.

Police stated that on Wednesday night, a team of officers confronted the suspects, who reportedly opened fire on the police. In the retaliatory gunfire, both suspects were seriously injured. They were transported to a hospital, where medical staff declared them dead.

On the day of the incident, at approximately 3:45 a.m., two individuals on motorcycles fired multiple rounds at Disha Patani’s residence in Bareilly. Although Disha was not at home at the time, her parents and siblings were inside.

Following the attack, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, ordered immediate action. Police analysed CCTV footage from multiple routes and reviewed crime records from neighbouring states to identify the suspects.

Authorities have confirmed that two other suspects connected to the attack are still at large. Police are actively conducting operations to locate and apprehend them.
