Bangladeshi Taka Holds Steady as Foreign Exchange Rates Are Released

The central bank of Bangladesh has released its latest official foreign exchange rates, reflecting a period of relative stability for the Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) following extended macroeconomic calibration. The figures published by Bangladesh Bank confirm steady buying and selling values across major convertible currencies, signaling anchored interbank dynamics and sustained remittance support through official banking channels.

According to the central bank’s update, the US Dollar (USD) is trading at a buying rate of 123.50 BDT against a selling rate of 123.30 BDT. Major European currencies continue to hold their valuation ground, with the British Pound (GBP) quoted at 163.07 BDT for buying and 163.24 BDT for selling, while the Euro (EUR) stands closely aligned at 138.05 BDT buying and 138.12 BDT selling. Across regional markets, the Indian Rupee (INR) remains tightly bound at 1.27 BDT for both buy and sell orders.

The broader international basket highlights steady transactional valuations for major trade partners. The Singapore Dollar (SGD) is pegged at 96.21 BDT buying and 96.30 BDT selling, whereas the Australian Dollar (AUD) stands at 86.05 BDT buying and 86.16 BDT selling. In Asia-Pacific clearing channels, the Chinese Yuan (CNY) is positioned at 18.41 BDT buying and 18.42 BDT selling, alongside the Japanese Yen (JPY) maintained at a level rate of 0.78 BDT.

This stability across major trading pairs follows structural market interventions designed to streamline exchange rate policy. Over recent quarters, monetary authorities have sought to balance external trade settlement pressures with inflation management. Increased remittance flows through formal banking pipelines, alongside steady export realisations, have helped buffer the currency against market volatility. Analysts observe that maintaining narrow spreads between buying and selling rates provides commercial importers and international trade partners with greater predictability, reducing friction in international trade settlement and cross-border remittances.
