Dhaka, 27 November 2025 (BSS): Bangladesh Bank has imposed a ban on foreign travel for officials of non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) ahead of the upcoming national elections.
The central bank issued a circular on Thursday announcing the restriction.
According to the circular, managing directors, chief executive officers, and all other officials of NBFIs are required to refrain from travelling abroad. However, the circular allows exceptions for unavoidable foreign trips if deemed absolutely necessary.
The ban will remain in effect until the completion of the national elections in February next year.
The directive was issued under the Banking Companies Act of 1991. However, the circular does not specify under which circumstances foreign travel will be considered essential.
