The exchange rates of major foreign currencies against the Bangladeshi taka remained an important reference for remittance recipients, international traders, travellers and businesses on Thursday, 13 August 2026.
More than 10 million Bangladeshis are estimated to live and work abroad, making foreign currency movements particularly relevant to the domestic economy. Remittances sent by overseas Bangladeshis are a major source of foreign exchange, while importers, exporters and companies engaged in cross-border transactions also closely monitor currency rates when planning payments and settlements.
According to the rates provided for Thursday, the US dollar was valued at Tk 122.84. The British pound stood at Tk 166.77, while the euro was quoted at Tk 144.97. These currencies are among the most closely watched in Bangladesh because of their relevance to international trade, overseas education, travel and other cross-border financial activities.
Among Middle Eastern currencies, one Saudi riyal was valued at Tk 33, while the United Arab Emirates dirham stood at Tk 33.65. The Qatari riyal was quoted at Tk 33.96. The Omani rial was significantly higher at Tk 320.25, while the Bahraini dinar stood at Tk 327.86. The Kuwaiti dinar recorded the highest value among the currencies listed, at Tk 402.22.
In Asia, one Malaysian ringgit was valued at Tk 30.20 and one Singapore dollar at Tk 96.93. The Indian rupee stood at Tk 1.25. A Japanese yen was quoted at Tk 0.778, while one South Korean won was valued at Tk 0.08701555.

Foreign exchange rates are not fixed and can change at any time in response to movements in international currency markets, supply and demand, economic conditions, interest-rate expectations and other financial factors. The rate available to customers may also differ from a quoted reference rate because banks and authorised money-exchange businesses apply their own buying and selling rates and charges.
For this reason, individuals sending remittances, businesses making international payments or travellers purchasing foreign currency should check the latest applicable rate with an authorised financial institution before completing a transaction.
