Bangladesh Cuts Hajj Airfares to BDT 130,000 for 2026 Pilgrims

The Bangladeshi government has announced a further reduction of 25,000 BDT in Hajj airfares for the 2026 pilgrimage season, bringing the revised round-trip ticket price down to 130,000 BDT per pilgrim.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat declared the price drop on Thursday, 30 July, whilst inaugurating the three-day National Hajj and Umrah Fair 2026 at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka. The event was organised by the Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB).

Addressing the gathering, the state minister highlighted that the administration under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is placing maximum priority on providing fair, reasonable, and hassle-free Hajj packages for Bangladeshi citizens. He noted that the ministry managed to shave 12,000 BDT off ticket prices last year, followed by this year’s additional slash of 25,000 BDT to reach the current 130,000 BDT figure.

Millat added that the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry has formally requested Saudi authorities to consider reducing airport construction taxes levied on air tickets. Discussions have also been held with the Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh regarding special arrangements to lower accommodation costs for pilgrims in the Holy Cities of Mecca and Medina.

Religious Affairs Secretary Munshi Alauddin Al Azad NDC informed the audience that around 95 per cent of Bangladeshi pilgrims perform Hajj through private agencies, with only five per cent utilizing government management. He urged private agency operators to maintain service standards and refrain from actions that could tarnish the country’s reputation.

The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Head of Mission at the Royal Saudi Embassy Khalid Saeed Al Hadal, senior leaders from HAAB, and prospective pilgrims planning for the upcoming Hajj season.
