The volume of international trade and cross-border financial transactions involving Bangladesh continues to expand, driving steady demand for foreign currency conversions across domestic financial sectors. Commercial banks and money exchange houses across the country monitor daily fluctuations closely to facilitate seamless commercial trade, educational remittances, travel expenses, and inbound migrant worker remittances.
According to latest market data reported on Sunday, the Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) maintained notable positions against major global currencies. The US Dollar stood at 122.10 BDT, whilst the Euro reached 137.88 BDT. The British Pound Sterling traded at 162.87 BDT, continuing its position as one of the strongest major benchmark currencies relative to the Taka.
Among Asian and regional currencies, the Indian Rupee exchanged at 1.27 BDT, reflecting ongoing bilateral trade dependencies between the neighboring nations. The Singapore Dollar stood at 96.08 BDT, supported by regular commercial flows and workforce ties. Meanwhile, the Australian Dollar traded at 85.60 BDT, and the Japanese Yen recorded an exchange rate of 0.77 BDT per Yen.
The exchange rates quoted across commercial and retail platforms serve as important indicators for businesses involved in import and export operations, as well as non-resident Bangladeshis sending funds home. Foreign exchange market analysts point out that international currency values remain inherently dynamic, subject to real-time adjustments based on global macroeconomic shifts, central bank policy moves, local liquidity conditions, and interbank trading volumes.
Financial institutions advise businesses and individuals conducting international transactions to verify finalized rates directly with authorized commercial banks or licensed exchange establishments prior to executing major foreign currency transfers.
