Security personnel operating within Dhaka’s expansive Bashundhara residential area successfully apprehended the prime suspect behind a recent street robbery, capturing him within thirty-six hours of the initial crime. Following his detention by the estate’s internal security team, the suspect was promptly handed over to the local police station so that formal legal proceedings could commence without delay.
The detained individual has been identified as Golam Rafi Khan. Community records and neighborhood inquiries indicate that he has lived in a private residence situated on Road 10 within Block I of the Bashundhara residential neighbourhood for approximately sixteen years, making him a long-term resident of the locality.
The security investigation began following a brazen street mugging in which a woman walking through the neighborhood was targeted by a rider on a two-wheeler, resulting in the abrupt theft of her handbag and mobile phone. Recognizing the urgency of maintaining safety within the gated community, local security teams immediately initiated a thorough probe by reviewing high-definition closed-circuit television footage harvested from cameras positioned along the surrounding streets and intersections.
Through meticulous digital surveillance and frame-by-frame analysis, the security personnel managed to isolate the suspect’s movements and capture clear, identifiable images of the motorcycle he utilized during the commission of the offence. This visual evidence proved critical in tracking his presence within the neighborhood.
Confronted with the overwhelming digital evidence following his capture, Golam Rafi Khan reportedly confessed to his direct involvement in the robbery during initial questioning by security staff. In the course of his statement, he further claimed to struggle with substance abuse, identifying himself as a regular user of yaba tablets.
