BNP Issues Show-Cause Notice to Leader Fazlur Rahman

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has issued a show-cause notice to Advocate Fazlur Rahman, a member of the BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council. This information was confirmed by a party source on Sunday.

According to the notice, Fazlur Rahman made objectionable and misleading remarks regarding the historic July–August mass uprisings and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives, which contradict the party’s ideals and the spirit of the mass movement.

The party stated that his comments have triggered strong public reactions and appear to undermine BNP’s reputation.

The notice further emphasised: “During the July–August mass uprisings, over 450 party leaders and activists, along with approximately 1,500 students and citizens, were martyred, and more than 30,000 people were seriously injured. Your repeated remarks insult and disrespect the heroic role played by students and citizens in the struggle to restore democracy.”

Fazlur Rahman has been instructed to submit a written response within 24 hours to the BNP central office at Naya Paltan.

The party is awaiting his response to determine further action regarding this matter.
