BRAC Bank Aparajeyo Alo Women’s Hockey tournament begins tomorrow

The BRAC Bank Aparajeyo Alo Women’s Hockey tournament is set to commence tomorrow (Sunday) at the Rajshahi zone, with two matches scheduled for the opening day.

The first match will see Joypurhat district face Rajshahi district at 1:15 pm, followed by Dinajpur district taking on Thakurgaon district at 3:00 pm.

A total of eighteen district teams, divided into four zones—Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Jashore, and Cumilla—will compete in the tournament. The event is sponsored by BRAC Bank and organised by the Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF). It forms part of a wider initiative to promote women’s sports at the grassroots level across the country.

Tournament format

Following the initial phase, one champion team from each zone will qualify for the final round, scheduled to be held in December. BKSP will join as the fifth team in the finals.

Participating teams

Zone 1 – Rajshahi venue: Joypurhat, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Thakurgaon, Rangpur

Zone 2 – Mymensingh venue: Narayanganj, Kishoreganj, Dhaka, Netrakona, Mymensingh

Zone 3 – Jashore venue: Jashore, Narail, Jhenaidah, Patuakhali

Zone 4 – Cumilla venue: Chattogram, Cumilla, Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet
