Brutal Bogura Homicide Linked to Protracted Ten Lakh Taka Dispute

A brutal midnight assault has left a 35-year-old man dead in the Latifpur Colony area of Bogura municipality, following what is believed to be a long-standing financial dispute. The victim, identified as Arif Sheikh, was ambushed and hacked to death outside the Preeti Government Primary School premises at approximately midnight on Friday.

A Fatal Financial Feud

Arif Sheikh, the son of Mohammed Aziz Sheikh, was a resident of the Latifpur Colony locality where the targeted attack occurred. According to grieving family members and local sources, the victim had been embroiled in a bitter, protracted conflict with a rival faction over a monetary transaction amounting to approximately ten lakh taka. Relatives disclosed that the situation had grown increasingly tense in the hours leading up to the murder, alleging that individuals from the opposing group had been actively searching for Arif since Friday afternoon.

The attackers eventually cornered Arif in the dead of night when he was completely isolated. Seizing the opportunity, the assailants launched a vicious assault with sharp weapons, inflicting multiple deep lacerations across his body. Leaving the critically wounded victim to succumb to his injuries on the street, the perpetrators fled the scene before local residents could intervene.

Police Investigation and Criminal Background

At around 1:00 am on Saturday, passers-by discovered the bloodstained body lying on the road and immediately alerted the Bogura Sadar Police Station. Law enforcement officials arrived promptly to secure the crime scene and recover the deceased. The body was subsequently dispatched to the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue for a mandatory post-mortem examination.

“We are exploring every possible angle to ensure all responsible parties are held accountable,” a senior investigating officer noted, confirming that police operations are currently underway to track down the suspects.

While the family maintains that the homicide was entirely motivated by the outstanding financial debt, local police sources have revealed that the victim possessed a complex background. Law enforcement records indicate that Arif Sheikh was a named suspect in several pending criminal cases, including allegations of:
