Chattogram HSC ICT Exam Postponed Again

The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Information and Communication Technology (ICT) examination scheduled for Saturday, 11 July, under the Chattogram Education Board has been postponed due to severe weather conditions and the worsening flood situation across the region.

The decision applies to all examination centres in the five districts administered by the Chattogram Education Board—Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Khagrachhari, Rangamati and Bandarban. A revised date for the postponed ICT examination (Subject Code: 275) will be announced at a later time.

The announcement was made in an emergency notice issued on Friday, 10 July, signed by Professor Md Parvez Sazzad Chowdhury, Controller of Examinations of the Chattogram Education Board.

According to the notice, persistent heavy rainfall, deteriorating weather conditions and widespread flooding have created significant difficulties in ensuring the safe movement of candidates, invigilators and examination officials. The Board concluded that conducting the examination under such circumstances would pose unnecessary risks and therefore opted to suspend the test until conditions improve.

To ensure that candidates receive the information promptly, the Board has instructed officers in charge of all examination centres to make public announcements using loudspeakers. The measure has been taken because power outages and communication disruptions in several affected areas may prevent many students and guardians from receiving official updates through electronic channels.

The authorities urged students and their families not to rely on unofficial information and to await the Board’s formal announcement regarding the revised examination schedule. Candidates have also been advised to preserve their examination documents and remain prepared for the rescheduled test once the new date is confirmed.

This is not the first disruption to this year’s HSC examinations in the region. Earlier, examinations scheduled for 8 July under the Chattogram Education Board were also postponed for the same reason after heavy rainfall triggered flooding across several districts. The continued adverse weather has affected transport links, damaged infrastructure in low-lying areas and disrupted normal public life.

Floodwaters have also forced the temporary closure of numerous educational institutions across the affected districts. Many schools and colleges have either suspended academic activities or are being used to support local emergency operations and shelter displaced residents. These conditions have made it increasingly difficult for students to travel safely to examination centres.

The repeated postponements reflect the Board’s effort to prioritise the safety of examinees while maintaining the integrity of the public examination process. Education authorities are expected to continue monitoring weather and flood conditions closely before announcing any revised examination timetable.
