Content Creator Seriously Burnt While Filming Video

Published: 01 Dec 2025, 04:12 am

A content creator from Mymensingh has suffered severe burns while filming a winter-themed video for social media. Mohammad Al Amin, who has been producing videos for the past five years, is currently receiving treatment at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BARDem) in Dhaka.

The incident occurred last Friday morning near Itkholar Mor, in the Daryapur area of Gauripur Upazila. Local residents said Al Amin, a resident of Daryapur village under Ramgopalpur Union, originally works as an assistant bricklayer. Alongside his day job, he has been actively creating a variety of content, ranging from humorous skits to realistic and fantastical scenarios, earning him a significant following on social media.

Al Amin’s content creation is a collaborative effort involving 30 to 35 local youths. One of his colleagues, Azad Hossain, who was present during the incident, told reporters that the accident happened while filming a winter video. The scene involved Al Amin pouring petrol into a pond and attempting to bathe while igniting flames for dramatic effect. Unfortunately, a gust of wind caused the fire to spiral out of control, resulting in burns to his back, legs, and other areas of his body.

Al Amin was quickly rescued and initially admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital before being transferred to Dhaka for further treatment. Doctors have reported that approximately 28 to 30 per cent of his body has been affected by burns, though his condition is reportedly stabilising and showing slight improvement. Hossain stated, “We could never have anticipated such an incident. The wind caused the flames to become uncontrollable. Nothing like this has happened in our previous shoots. We will be much more cautious in future projects. Everyone should learn from this experience.”

A video of the accident has circulated on social media, showing the flames engulfing the area and Al Amin jumping into the water in a desperate bid to escape the fire.

The ‘Mymensingh Divisional Content Creators Association’ has expressed concern over the incident. Its secretary, Kangal Shaheen, remarked, “Many creators are taking unnecessary risks in pursuit of viral content. The desire for online fame can cloud judgement, leading to dangerous situations. Al Amin’s accident should serve as a stark warning: no one should jeopardise their life for a video.”

This incident highlights the growing dangers associated with social media content creation, where the pursuit of likes and shares can sometimes override basic safety precautions. Experts stress that proper safety measures are essential to prevent similar accidents in the future.
