Controversial wording about women prompts strict police action against Badshah.

Indian rapper Badshah has once again found himself at the centre of a major controversy following the release of his latest Haryanvi track, Taatiri. The song has triggered widespread public outrage and legal action over allegations that it portrays women in a derogatory and objectifying manner. Authorities in Haryana have now intensified their response, marking a significant escalation in the case.

Badshah, who has frequently been embroiled in disputes over lyrical content and visual representation in his music, released Taatiri on 1 March via his social media platforms. While the track initially received an enthusiastic response from fans, criticism quickly emerged within days as viewers scrutinised both its lyrics and accompanying music video.

According to complainants, the video depicts women, including schoolgirls in uniform, engaging in suggestive dance movements, accompanied by lyrics deemed overtly provocative. Critics have alleged that the content reduces women to objects of entertainment, sparking accusations of moral insensitivity and cultural irresponsibility. The controversy soon escalated beyond social media outrage, leading to formal complaints and police intervention.

The Haryana State Commission for Women took cognisance of the matter and summoned the artist for clarification. Separately, multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) were lodged against him. The issue also attracted political attention, with Aparna Yadav, daughter-in-law of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, writing to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, urging a ban on the song within the state.

In response to growing pressure, Haryana Police have adopted a strict stance. Director General of Police Ajay Singhal stated that any content undermining the dignity of women and minors would be dealt with under a zero-tolerance policy. He emphasised that no individual would be exempt from legal scrutiny if found responsible for producing or disseminating such material.

Authorities in Panchkula have already begun large-scale content removal operations across digital platforms. A significant number of posts, videos, and reels featuring the song have been taken down following coordination with social media companies.

Officials confirmed that continuous monitoring is underway to ensure the song is not further circulated online. Platforms have been instructed to actively detect and remove any new uploads related to the track.

Meanwhile, a formal complaint was filed at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Sector 20, Panchkula, by a local resident, Abhay Choudhary. He alleged that the video presents women, particularly school-aged girls, in an inappropriate and disrespectful manner, potentially influencing young audiences negatively.

The case continues to develop, with authorities signalling that further legal and regulatory measures may follow depending on ongoing investigations.
