The grim discovery took place early on Saturday, 5 September, on the first floor of a four-storey rented building owned by Haji Hazrat Ali in the Middle Jamgara area. Upon entering the locked apartment at around 1:30 am, law enforcement officers found the remains of the unidentified victims.

Neighbours grew suspicious when a pungent odour began emanating from the locked flat. They immediately notified the landlord, who subsequently alerted the authorities. When police officers broke open the door, they found the bodies in an advanced state of decomposition, suggesting the deaths had occurred several days earlier. A traditional cotton towel (gamcha) was found wrapped tightly around the man’s neck, pointing towards strangulation.

News of the discovery spread rapidly through Middle Jamgara, drawing large crowds of local residents to the building. The incident has caused widespread shock and panic across the industrial neighbourhood, with locals demanding a swift and thorough investigation to identify the perpetrators.

Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Torikul Islam confirmed that initial physical evidence strongly indicates a premeditated triple murder. Law enforcement officials believe the victims were a married couple and their newborn, though their formal identities, permanent addresses, and occupations remain unconfirmed as enquiries continue.

Multiple investigative agencies have arrived at the scene to gather evidence. A forensic team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) collected physical samples, fingerprints, and crime scene forensics to aid the probe. Detectives from the Dhaka North Detective Branch (DB) along with local Ashulia police personnel are conducting a joint investigation to establish a motive, identify the victims, and apprehend those responsible for the killings.
