Evening Turns Deadly: Three Shot as Brahmanbaria Dominance Feud Erupts!

Published: 27 Nov 2025, 09:37 pm

An intense turf war in Brahmanbaria’s Kandipara neighborhood spiraled into violence on Thursday evening, leaving three men injured by gunfire. What was supposed to be a typical busy hour in the city center turned into a scene of chaos when unidentified attackers opened fire on a rival group.

Witnesses describe the scene as terrifying. According to locals, a group of men had gathered near the Kandipara junction when several armed individuals, believed to be their rivals, arrived on motorbikes. Without engaging in any conversation, the attackers started shooting at the crowd. People on the street ran for safety while nearby shopkeepers shut their businesses within seconds.

The victims were identified as Nazmul Ahmed Tutul (36), Shihab (30), and Saju Mia. They were quickly transported to the District Sadar Hospital by local residents who risked their own safety to help the wounded. Two of the victims sustained multiple injuries from rubber bullets, while Saju had visible gunshot wounds that required immediate medical supervision.

Dr. Nur Ibne Bin Sifat, who was on duty at the time of admission, said, “The two patients with rubber-bullet injuries have been admitted. Their condition is stable, but we will continue to monitor them closely.”

Police officials, led by Sadar Model Police Station OC Md. Azharul Islam, arrived promptly at the scene. He later confirmed the shooting and explained the underlying conflict. “This is part of a long-running dominance dispute between two groups in the Kandipara area,” Azharul said. “They have clashed before, but today’s attack was sudden and more violent.”

The OC added that investigators are exploring whether the turf war is linked to larger issues such as criminal rackets, local extortion, or disputes over illegal trade. “We are checking CCTV footage, talking to witnesses, and tracing the attackers. No one responsible will escape justice,” he emphasized.

Local residents claim that the tension has been escalating for months. Many say that both groups frequently show force, intimidate locals, and attempt to control businesses and influential spots in the area. Thursday’s shooting has intensified those fears, with residents now calling for a full police crackdown.

Following the incident, police increased patrolling in and around Kandipara. Streets that usually buzz with people went unusually quiet. Some families reported keeping their children indoors, fearing further violence.

A shopkeeper who witnessed part of the shooting said, “It happened so fast. They fired several shots and disappeared. We don’t feel safe anymore.”

While the police investigation continues, the incident has sparked fresh concerns over rising turf battles in urban neighborhoods. Many civic groups have urged authorities to disarm local gangs and dismantle networks involved in dominance disputes.

For now, the city waits anxiously. As the investigation deepens, the people of Brahmanbaria hope this will be the wake-up call that finally pushes authorities to take decisive action.
