Extortionists Vandalise Industrial Unit in Bandar After Extortion Demands Refused

Police have launched an official investigation into an attack on an industrial facility in Narayanganj’s Bandar upazila, where miscreants reportedly vandalised property after factory management refused to comply with extortion demands. Law enforcement officers inspected the site on Saturday, 29 August, following a formal written complaint lodged by the company.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon at Holoplast Centre, a manufacturing plant located in the Sukhertek area of Madanpur under Bandar upazila. According to factory management, a local influential group had been pressuring the administration for extortion payments over an extended period. The situation escalated dramatically when the management firmly rejected these unlawful demands.
Saiful Islam, the manager of Holoplast Centre, stated that an armed gang launched a sudden assault on the facility on Thursday afternoon. The attackers attempted to breach the main entrance of the factory by force. When security measures prevented them from entering the primary premises, the group vented their frustration by smashing closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras mounted along the perimeter wall. Before fleeing the scene, the assailants issued death threats to the factory staff and management, instilling widespread panic among the workers and temporarily disrupting regular operations.
Following the assault, the factory administration filed a written complaint with the Bandar Police Station, requesting immediate legal intervention and heightened protection for the industrial site. The attack has raised concerns among local entrepreneurs and business leaders in the Madanpur industrial belt regarding workplace security and public order.
Confirming the development, Additional Superintendent of Police Dipankar Ghosh stated that officers have visited the scene to gather evidence and assess the extent of the damage. Law enforcement authorities are examining available surveillance footage and interviewing eyewitnesses to identify the perpetrators. Ghosh assured that police operations are underway to apprehend those involved and bring them to justice swiftly.
