Acclaimed filmmaker and former cultural affairs adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farookhi has rubbished ongoing rumours regarding a separation from his wife, actress Nusrat Imroz Tisha, branding the claims entirely baseless. The Director expressed deep indignation over a coordinated smear campaign on social media, alongside a cyber attack that compromised his personal Facebook profile.
Reaching out on Saturday, Farookhi revealed that he woke up to find his official Facebook account hacked and subsequently deactivated. He noted that an online cybercrime group had claimed responsibility for the breach and was celebrating the act across various social forums. Urging swift intervention, Farookhi called upon law enforcement agencies to investigate the security breach and take strict legal action against those responsible.
Addressing the online chatter surrounding his personal life, the filmmaker made his position clear. “I have no time or interest to address these stories. They are completely without foundation,” Farookhi remarked. He added that he has no intention of paying attention to baseless claims propagated by malicious individuals.
Farookhi also addressed circulating rumours claiming he holds immovable property and assets in Australia and Switzerland. Describing the allegations as laughable and absurd, he emphasized that such claims can easily be verified by anyone seeking the truth. He urged the public and media outlets to focus on his creative portfolio rather than giving weight to baseless speculation.
Despite the online disruption, Farookhi remains fully engaged with his professional commitments. He recently completed the production of two commercial campaigns, with filming conducted across locations in Dhaka, Mymensingh, and South Korea. Preparation is already underway to begin shooting a third commercial in the coming days.
On the cinematic front, the director is refining screenplays for two upcoming feature films. One of the projects, titled To Hell, With Love, explores a romance set against the backdrop of Gen-Z youth culture. The second venture centers on a political narrative.
Farookhi and Tisha tied the knot on 16 July 2010, establishing themselves over the years as one of the most respected power couples in the Bangladeshi entertainment industry. The couple welcomed their daughter, Ilham Nusrat Farookhi, in 2022. Both figures continue to maintain prominent careers, with Farookhi earning national and international acclaim for his contributions to cinema and culture, while Tisha remains a celebrated leading actress.
