A tragic road accident occurred on Wednesday morning in Banglabazar, Chitalmari, when a passenger bus collided violently with a motorcycle, claiming the life of 40-year-old Mohammad Babu Molla. The incident has sent waves of grief and concern throughout the local community.
According to local police and fire service officials, the collision took place at approximately 10:30 am on 25 March along the Dhaka–Pirojpur route in the Banglabazar area. The deceased, Babu Molla, was the son of the late Nasir Molla from the Jatrabari area of Dhaka South City Corporation.
Abdul Rahim, leader of the Chitalmari Fire Service Station, reported that a passenger bus (registration Pirojpur B-05-001), travelling from Khulna, struck the motorcycle head-on. The force of the impact caused the motorcycle to crumple, pinning Babu Molla beneath the bus. Despite swift efforts by nearby residents to rescue him, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Chitalmari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Nazrul Islam confirmed that the bus involved has been seized and legal proceedings are underway. He urged road users to exercise responsibility and caution, emphasising that adherence to traffic regulations is vital for public safety.
Local residents noted that this stretch of road is notoriously busy, particularly during early mornings and rush hours, when the volume of passenger vehicles and private motorcycles increases significantly, heightening the risk of accidents.
The following table summarises the key details of the accident:
| Date & Time | Location | Vehicles Involved | Victim Name | Age | Address | Accident Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25 March, 10:30 am | Banglabazar, Chitalmari | Passenger bus & motorcycle | Mohammad Babu Molla | 40 | Jatrabari, Dhaka South City Corporation | Motorcycle crushed under bus |
Authorities from both the police and fire service are now investigating the precise cause of the collision. They have also announced plans to strengthen road safety measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future. Members of the public have been urged to follow traffic rules diligently, control their speed, and remain alert while on the road to ensure safe transportation.
This heartbreaking event serves as a stark reminder of the constant dangers present on busy roads and the critical importance of traffic awareness. Road safety campaigns and stricter enforcement of traffic regulations remain essential to prevent further loss of life.
