FIFA Clarifies World Cup Final Halftime Show Duration Rumours

The stage is set for a blockbuster clash as reigning world champions Argentina prepare to face European heavyweights Spain in the FIFA World Cup final. Mirroring the grandeur of the tournament’s opening ceremony, the final showpiece will feature performances from global music icons. However, speculation had recently intensified regarding a prolonged halftime interval, with rumours suggesting an American Super Bowl-style entertainment segment lasting between 30 and 40 minutes.

This prospect triggered substantial criticism from football pundits, managers, and purists alike. The football governing body has formally communicated this directive to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Argentine Football Association (AFA). The decision means the interval will be just two minutes longer than the standard period authorised in professional football regulations.

FIFA has meticulously structured this 17-minute window to balance entertainment with sporting integrity. The musical performances will be strictly limited to an 11-minute set. The remaining six minutes will be utilized for the rapid assembly and dismantling of the temporary pitch stage, alongside the mandatory watering of the turf before players emerge for the second half.

The star-studded lineup scheduled to perform at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey includes pop icon Madonna, Latin music superstar Shakira, and Canadian singer Justin Bieber. While earlier reports suggested potential appearances by South Korean pop sensation BTS and British rock band Coldplay, FIFA’s official confirmation has finalised these three headliners.

Aside from the brief halftime extension, standard match protocols will remain in force. This includes the mandatory hydration breaks introduced across the tournament. Given the intense summer heat currently affecting host venues, referees will continue to implement one cooling break per half to safeguard player welfare without altering the core competitive dynamics of the final.
