The arrested individuals have been identified as Atiqul Kazi (32), Shanto Kazi (23), Habib Kazi (21), and Shiuli (35). All four are currently in police custody as law enforcement agencies work to establish the motive behind the crime.

The case dates back to 21 June, when the child vanished without a trace in the late afternoon. After searching frantically throughout the neighborhood and nearby areas to no avail, the panicked family lodged a general diary (GD) at the Araihazar Police Station later that evening. The search ended tragically the following morning, 22 June, when local residents spotted the child’s lifeless body floating in a nearby ditch and immediately alerted the authorities. Officers arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and dispatched it to the hospital morgue for a detailed post-mortem examination.

From the outset, the victim’s family alleged foul play, maintaining that the child had been murdered and deliberately dumped in the ditch to conceal the crime. Their fears were formally validated when the post-mortem report reached investigating officers, explicitly documenting physical evidence of murder. The definitive medical findings prompted police to escalate the investigation into a full-scale homicide enquiry.

Following the receipt of the medical report and subsequent police operations, a formal murder case was registered. Investigators are interrogating the four suspects to determine the precise circumstances surrounding the murder and to identify whether additional accomplices were involved.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Araihazar Police Station, Sobjel Hossain, confirmed the developments, stating that forensic evidence conclusively proved the child was killed. He added that the four suspects were placed before the court on Monday afternoon following their arrest. OC Hossain emphasised that police operations are ongoing to track down and apprehend any remaining suspects linked to the case, assuring that all perpetrators will face legal consequences.
