Four, including a child, killed in California banquet shooting

At least four people, including a child, were killed and ten others injured when a gunman opened fire at a banquet hall in California, USA. The attack occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on Saturday (29 November) during a family gathering at the 1900 block of Lucile Avenue in Stockton. The information was reported by NDTV on Sunday (30 November).

Heather Brent, spokesperson for the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, said children and adults were present at the venue, and some of them were among the deceased. Details regarding the victims’ ages and identities were not immediately available.

She stated that it was a family event and the attack may have been pre-planned. However, the primary focus of the investigation is identifying the shooter. She could not confirm whether the shots were fired inside or outside the banquet hall.

The FBI, Stockton Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies are assisting in the investigation. Stockton’s Vice Mayor, Jason Lee, said the shooting took place during a children’s birthday celebration.

The office of California Governor Gavin Newsom posted on X that the governor had been briefed and the Office of Emergency Services was coordinating with law enforcement to monitor the situation.
