Fourteen Senior Police Officers Transferred in Recent Reshuffle

The Bangladesh Police has reshuffled its administrative lineup by transferring and posting 14 high-ranking officials holding the ranks of additional superintendent of police and assistant superintendent of police. Issued in the public interest, these new postings will remain in effect until further notice.

The directive was officially announced on Tuesday through two separate gazette notifications issued by the Personnel Management-1 branch of Police Headquarters. The notifications bore the signature of Inspector General of Police Md. Ali Hossain Fakir.

The first notification outlines the reassignments of seven officers. Khandakar Ashfakuzzaman, previously serving as the additional superintendent of police in Gazipur, has been transferred to Barguna. Meanwhile, Shah Shibli Sadik moves from Magura to take over the role in Gazipur. Zakir Hossain Suman, who was stationed at Police Headquarters, has been reassigned to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) as an additional deputy commissioner of police.

Other notable transfers in the first batch include D.M. Hasibul Benzeer moving from Sylhet to Gaibandha, and Md. Saiful Islam, formerly the additional superintendent of police for the Dewanganj circle in Jamalpur, being reassigned to the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) and Specialised Training Centre in Khagrachhari. Manna Dey, previously heading the Bandarban Sadar circle, has also been transferred to the APBn, while Mostafizur Rahman of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been posted to the Kulaura circle in Moulvibazar.

The second notification details the reassignments of another group of seven officers. Mohammad Reza Sarowar has been transferred from Police Headquarters to Satkhira, and Kazi Maksuda Lima moves from the Police Training Centre in Tangail to the Police Staff College in Dhaka. Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Aminur Rahman has been moved from Satkhira to the Khagrachhari hill district, and Railway Police official Jonaid Afrid has been assigned to the Dewanganj circle in Jamalpur.

Additionally, Fahmida Sultana Nelly of the APBn has been brought to Police Headquarters. In the assistant superintendent ranks, Isfakul Kabir Sarkar from the DMP has been posted to the Shailkupa circle in Jhenaidah, while Jony Lal Deb moves from the APBn to the Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) as an assistant commissioner.

The second notification also formally cancels a previous transfer order issued on 19 August, which had assigned RAB Assistant Superintendent H.M. Golam Rabbani to the Shailkupa circle in Jhenaidah.

All affected officers have been instructed to formally hand over their current responsibilities and report to their new duty stations by 5 September. The directive explicitly warns that failure to relinquish current duties within the stipulated window will result in officers being stand-released immediately starting 6 September.

How do you think these routine administrative transfers impact overall law enforcement operations across different districts?
