The decline in global gold prices has influenced the domestic market, leading to a reduction in local gold rates. On Thursday (20 November), the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) reduced the price of one bhori of gold by 1,353 Taka. Gold is currently being sold at the adjusted price. On Wednesday (26 November), buying one bhori of gold will cost 208,167 Taka.

BAJUS stated in a notice that the price of pure gold has fallen in the local market, prompting the revision of gold prices.

According to the new rates, one bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold will cost 208,167 Taka. Meanwhile, 21-carat gold is priced at 198,696 Taka per bhori, 18-carat at 170,318 Taka per bhori, and gold following the traditional method is 141,648 Taka per bhori.

BAJUS mentioned that the sale price of gold must include the government-mandated 5% VAT and the minimum 6% labour cost determined by BAJUS. However, labour charges may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery.

Previously, on Wednesday (19 November), BAJUS had adjusted the domestic gold price, raising the price of one bhori of 22-carat gold by 2,612 Taka to 209,520 Taka. The rates for 21-carat, 18-carat, and traditional gold were set at 200,300 Taka, 171,426 Taka, and 142,592 Taka per bhori, respectively, effective from 20 November.

Despite the fall in gold prices, the price of silver remains unchanged. In Bangladesh, one bhori of 22-carat silver is sold at 4,246 Taka, 21-carat at 4,047 Taka, 18-carat at 3,476 Taka, and traditional silver at 2,601 Taka per bhori.
