In a formal address to the press, the Home Minister, Salah Uddin Ahmad, assured the public that the overall law and order situation across the country remains fully stabilized and under control. He highlighted that law enforcement agencies alongside state intelligence units are operating on maximum alert to preemptively thwart any illegal or destabilizing activities that could threaten national peace and security.

The remarks were made during an executive press briefing held on Tuesday afternoon at the Ministry of Home Affairs inside the Bangladesh Secretariat, where the minister addressed several pressing national issues and answered questions from media representatives:

• Countering Extremism and Internal Security: Minister Ahmad underscored that intelligence agencies and armed security forces maintain continuous vigilance to combat extremism and safeguard internal stability, ensuring that anti-state elements are kept at bay.

• Routine Security Enhancements for Police: Addressing inquiries regarding heightened police security protocols, he clarified that these measures are part of standard operational procedures. Field officers have been instructed to avoid patrolling alone and to remain constantly vigilant on duty, asserting there is no need to misinterpret these routine precautions.

Inquiries Regarding Banned Groups, Incidents, and Elections

Addressing the presence and influence of outlawed political outfits, Salah Uddin Ahmad asserted that such groups possess zero operational capability or influence on the ground within the country. He noted that while banned organizations occasionally attempt to generate noise on social media platforms from abroad, they lack any real capacity to execute disruptive activities domestically.

When questioned about recent alleged attacks directed at the National Citizen Party (NCP), the Home Minister firmly pledged that a thorough and impartial inquiry would be carried out. He reiterated that any individuals or groups found complicit in these acts following the investigation will face strict legal consequences under the laws of the land. Finally, responding to questions regarding the upcoming presidential election, the minister clarified that the matter falls strictly under the constitutional jurisdiction of the Bangladesh Election Commission, which holds the sole authority to make decisions regarding election schedules and procedures.
