A 48-year-old housewife was brutally murdered by unidentified miscreants inside her residence in the Gabtali Upazila of Bogura. The victim, identified as Rita Rani Mojumdar, was found with her throat slit. The incident transpired at approximately 12:15 am on Thursday (late Wednesday night) in the Mominhata Dakshinpara area of the upazila.
Rita Rani Mojumdar was the wife of Bidhan Chandra Roy, a local resident. The couple resided alone in their village home, as their only son and daughter live in Dhaka for educational purposes. According to statements provided by the victim’s husband, the couple had finished their dinner at around 10:00 pm on Wednesday. Following their routine, they retired for the night to sleep in separate bedrooms within the house.
Mr Roy reported that his sleep was abruptly interrupted at around 12:15 am by the sound of a violent bang on his bedroom door. Simultaneously, he heard unusual groaning noises emanating from his wife’s room. Alarmed by the sounds, he rushed to investigate the situation immediately.
Upon entering his wife’s bedroom, Mr Roy discovered the blood-stained body of Rita Rani Mojumdar lying on the floor with her throat slit. He began shouting for help and ran outside, at which point he noticed that the main entrance door of the house was wide open, indicating the entry and exit point used by the perpetrators.
