The Khulna district unit of Jubo League organised a series of programmes in the city on 28 September to mark the birthday of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina. The events included a children’s drawing competition, a prize-giving ceremony, food distribution and a cake-cutting programme.
Grassroots-level Jubo League supporters and their children took part in the programmes arranged to mark Hasina’s birthday. The drawing competition was one of the main attractions, with participating children producing pictures of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Hasina.
Prizes were later distributed among the winners of the competition. Organisers said the initiative was intended to encourage children to learn about the political lives and ideals associated with Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Hasina.
Food was also distributed among Jubo League supporters and children attending the event. Biryani was served to participants as part of the birthday programme. Later, Jubo League members, supporters and children joined a cake-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.
The organisers said the participation of children was intended to create an opportunity for the younger generation to become familiar with the political history and ideas associated with the two political figures. The children’s drawing activities and other programmes created an enthusiastic atmosphere among those attending, according to the organisers.
Sheikh Jafrin Hasan, an organiser of the Khulna district Jubo League and former vice-president and sports secretary of Khulna Metropolitan Chhatra League, was responsible for the overall coordination of the programmes. The events were organised by the Khulna district Jubo League.
Sheikh Hasina was born on 28 September 1947 in Tungipara, Gopalganj. Her 79th birthday was observed on 28 September 2026. She served as Bangladesh’s prime minister on multiple occasions during her long political career.
The Khulna programmes brought together grassroots political supporters and children in a series of activities centred on the birthday observance. The drawing competition, food distribution and cake-cutting ceremony formed the main components of the local celebrations.
