Additional Superintendent of Police (DB) Md Hasinuzzaman confirmed the arrest, stating that Faisal was apprehended on specific extortion charges, with further details to be disclosed following ongoing police enquiries.

The formal complaint was lodged by Md Rafiqul Islam, a checker stationed at the Jet A-1 section of the Godnail Depot. According to the First Information Report (FIR), Faisal contacted Islam via WhatsApp on 1 July at approximately 10:00 am. During the call, he allegedly demanded a one-off payment of 2 million BDT alongside an ongoing monthly levy of 200,000 BDT from workers at the Jet A-1 point. When employees refused to comply, Faisal reportedly issued violent threats, including death threats. The complainant alleged that Faisal repeated these demands and intimidation attempts over subsequent phone calls.

Escalating the pressure, Faisal allegedly entered the Jet A-1 point at the depot on 1 August at around 11:15 am, accompanied by 10 to 12 unidentified individuals. The group reiterated the extortion demands directly to the workers. When staff members resisted, the suspects behaved aggressively, threatening to bar them from working at the facility. Furthermore, Faisal and his associates allegedly warned that any formal police complaints would result in the murder and concealment of the workers’ bodies.

Local sources indicate that Faisal faces a history of similar allegations involving intimidation and extortion in the area. In March, a local businessman, Delwar Hossain Bhuiyan, reported to police that Faisal and his accomplices had been demanding protection money from his sand-dredging enterprise. Additionally, on the same day as the depot intrusion on 1 August, Faisal allegedly led a group of 15 to 20 individuals—including associate Sojib Bhuiyan—into the facility during a staff handover at the aviation turbine fuel delivery point, threatening newly appointed workers to abandon their posts.
