“Life does not end here,” wrote Konokchapa.

Bangladeshi singer Rumana Morshed Konokchapa applied for nomination from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for a reserved seat in the National Parliament for women. However, she was not included in the final list of nominees.

Following the announcement, the matter drew public attention after Konokchapa initially posted a brief message on Facebook stating, “Alhamdulillah.” She later provided a fuller explanation through another post, outlining her position and reaction to the decision.

In her detailed statement, she wrote: “Assalamualaikum. I say Alhamdulillah in any situation of life. Everything is the will of Allah. I struggled to take part in the direct national election. Even then, after not receiving nomination, I said Alhamdulillah without hesitation. Due to the strong demand from people in my village, I again went through this reserved seat process. There also, I was not given recognition. Still, I say Alhamdulillah. Surely there is goodness in it by Allah’s will. Life does not end here.”

She further added that public support has been important to her and expressed hope that people would continue to stand by her. Describing herself as a simple individual, she stated that the party may have considered her a modest figure. However, she emphasised that she believes she still has contributions to make to the country beyond music.

Konokchapa also remarked that she remains committed to serving the nation in whatever capacity is possible. She expressed that even if she is unable to contribute in other ways, she would still be willing to serve the country in a symbolic sense.

In the same political process, BNP announced a list of 36 candidates for the reserved women’s seats in the National Parliament. According to the announcement, the list includes several political figures such as Selima Rahman, Nipun Roy Chowdhury, and Sanzida Islam Tuli, among others. Konokchapa’s name was not included in the final selection. No representatives from the entertainment sector were included in the announced list.
