A passenger named Arman Hossain has been arrested by Aviation Security (AVSEC) at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for stealing luggage.
He was arrested at midnight on Monday (24 November). The Assistant Director of the PR Division of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Muhammad Kawser Mahmud, confirmed the incident to Dhaka Post on Tuesday.
He explained that the passenger was arrested while departing for Jeddah from Dhaka on Monday night. Previously, on 3 November, Arman arrived in Dhaka from Riyadh on Saudi Airlines flight SV-806. After completing immigration, he went to Belt No. 2, where luggage for passengers of a US-Bangla Airlines flight was being distributed. There, Arman took two pieces of luggage and left the airport.
On 9 November, he again took another piece of luggage from a different belt and left the airport.
Victim Kawser Mahmud confirmed that after the illegal and criminal activities were confirmed, the accused passenger Arman Hossain was sent to an Executive Magistrate's court. After reviewing the footage and information, the magistrate sentenced him to one year of rigorous imprisonment.
