Islam, a native of Tongibari Upazila in Munshiganj district, served as a resident instructor at the institution where the victim was enrolled. Police Inspector Anwar Sattar, Media and Public Relations Officer for the National Emergency Service 999, confirmed that the emergency helpline received a call on Wednesday afternoon regarding an ongoing situation at the madrasa. The caller reported that an instructor had assaulted a student, prompting local residents to detain the teacher. Tensions escalated rapidly as an angry mob gathered at the premises, attempting to confront the accused.

Upon receiving the dispatch, 999 operators alerted Fatullah Police Station to intervene without delay. A police unit arrived at the scene shortly afterwards, dispersed the crowd, and extracted Islam safely before placing him under formal arrest.

Investigations revealed that the 17-year-old victim had entered the residential madrasa approximately a year ago to memorise the Quran. According to statements provided to law enforcement, Islam repeatedly coerced and sexually abused the teenager over several months, using intimidation and threats of discipline to enforce silence.

The pattern of abuse came to light after a recent incident on the night of 31 August left the student noticeably ill and physically distressed. Concerned by his deteriorating condition, his mother removed him from the madrasa and brought him home, where he disclosed the ordeal. Accompanied by local community members, the mother returned to the madrasa on Wednesday to confront the suspect. Police officials noted that Islam verbally admitted to the allegations when questioned by the boy’s family in front of witnesses.

The victim’s mother has lodged a formal complaint under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at Fatullah Police Station. Police confirmed that the suspect remains in custody as legal proceedings move forward, with officers gathering evidence and arranging medical evaluations for the victim to support the prosecution.
