Major Explosive Materials Seized in Shibganj

A significant cache of explosive materials and bomb-making components has been recovered during a raid by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district. Although no arrests were made during the operation, authorities believe the materials were stored by miscreants with the intention of carrying out subversive activities.

The operation was conducted at around 11:00 pm on Sunday (29 March) in an orchard located near the No. 4 embankment area adjacent to Kothanipara village under Ghorapakhia Union. Acting on confidential intelligence, a team from RAB carried out a thorough search of the area and discovered a collection of suspicious items abandoned in a concealed condition.

According to a press briefing issued at 10:00 am on Monday (30 March), the recovered materials included approximately 9 kilograms and 150 grams of gunpowder-like explosive substances, divided into multiple packages of varying colours and weights. In addition, a range of bomb-making accessories was also seized from the scene.

Officials suspect that the recovered materials were being stockpiled for potential acts of sabotage. Following the recovery, the seized items were handed over for further legal procedures, and a case has been initiated at Shibganj Police Station.
