The four-day solo exhibition of artist Masudur Rahman, titled ‘Chhaya Pother Pothikera’ (Shadows of the Pathfarers), has been inaugurated at Nook Gallery in Dhaka’s Banani. Eminent artist Monirul Islam and cultural personality Shankar Sanjal jointly inaugurated the exhibition on Friday.
Masudur Rahman’s third solo exhibition features around 40 artworks created using charcoal, oil paint, and acrylic. These creations explore the themes of the relationship between nature and the cosmos, existence, and the void. The exhibition is being jointly curated by Farhana Nizam Chowdhury and Mahbub Shahriar.
Artist Masudur Rahman’s artistic journey began with poetry, and he received his formal education in Oriental Art at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka. He later pursued art as a profession. His work typically centers on human expression, aspirations, and the pursuit of dreams. He uses nature as a profound metaphor in his attempt to encapsulate the vastness of the universe within the human experience.
Masudur Rahman’s two previous solo exhibitions were “Cosmic Cadence” (at Dwip Gallery in October 2023) and “Journey of Cosmos” (at Alliance Française de Dhaka in September 2024). ‘Chhaya Pother Pothikera’ is his third solo exhibition.
During the exhibition, the artist held a live painting session at the gallery on Saturday, October 25, and a poetry recitation is scheduled for the closing ceremony this evening, October 27.
