The victim’s mother formally lodged the written complaint at Saidpur Police Station on Monday, calling for immediate legal action against the accused.

According to the written complaint and statements from local residents, the child was playing near her quarters at the housing project on Sunday afternoon. The 13-year-old boy, who lives in the same locality, allegedly enticed her with guavas and took her behind an adjacent building, where he subjected her to physical abuse and attempted sexual assault.

The young child subsequently managed to return home in a distressed and bleeding state. Her mother noticed severe physical trauma and bleeding while preparing to bathe her. Upon being questioned, the traumatised child recounted the ordeal and identified the older boy. The mother immediately rushed to the scene to inquire further, where several neighbourhood children confirmed seeing the accused take the child behind the building. When confronted by local residents, the boy reportedly admitted to his involvement in the incident.

The victim’s mother stated that due to continuous bleeding, the child was taken to the Saidpur 100-Bed Hospital for emergency care. Given the severity of her injuries, attending medical personnel referred her to Nilphamari General Hospital for specialized treatment, where she remains admitted under close medical observation.

Officer-in-Charge of Saidpur Police Station, Md Rezaul Karim Reza, confirmed receipt of the written complaint from the victim’s family. He stated that law enforcement officers have launched a formal investigation into the matter. He assured that if the allegations are substantiated through medical reports and police inquiries, strict legal measures will be initiated against the suspect in accordance with child protection and penal laws. The incident has sparked widespread anger and concern among local residents within the housing complex, who are demanding a swift and impartial investigation.
