Miraz Revives Rare Australian Test Bowling Feat

Bangladesh have secured a historic Test victory on Australian soil, with all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz playing a decisive role in the landmark success. His contribution also added another chapter to Bangladesh’s growing record against Australia. In the same Darwin Test, Bangladesh’s young pace bowler Hasan Mahmud had already made a major impact by taking six wickets in the first innings. Miraz then followed with a five-wicket haul in the second innings, giving Bangladesh two outstanding individual bowling performances in the same match.

Miraz’s five-for also made him only the fourth Bangladeshi bowler to claim a five-wicket haul in a Test against Australia. The achievement underlined the importance of his role as an all-rounder, particularly at a time when Bangladesh needed sustained pressure with the ball to defend their position.

For Miraz, however, the significance of the moment went beyond personal statistics. The victory represented a historic achievement for Bangladesh, while his spell became one of the defining performances of the match.

After the win, Miraz expressed his emotions on social media, saying he felt “proud and honoured” to be part of history.
