Mohammedan Signs Top National Stars From Kings in Title Push

Mohammedan Sporting Club has sent a clear message of intent for the upcoming domestic football season, assembling a star-studded squad backed by a formidable budget. Having previously confirmed 24 players—including 18 retained from last season—the Motijheel-based giants secured the signings of five additional players. Four of these recruits arrive directly from current league champions Bashundhara Kings, signaling a major shift in the domestic transfer market. The story was confirmed by  our representative.

The headline signings include national team defender Saad Uddin, forward Foysal Ahmed Fahim, midfielder Sohel Rana (Junior), and forward Shahriar Emon. Joining them is centre-back Shakil Ahad Topu, who played for Mohammedan last season and has now officially extended his stint. All five players are integral members of the Bangladesh national team, with Saad, Topu, and Fahim regularly featuring in the starting eleven for the national side.

Speaking at the club’s headquarters in Motijheel, Mohammedan’s Director of Sports, Mostakur Rahman, told  our representative that the management is committed to lifting the league trophy this season. He explained that building a strong squad was necessary to achieve their championship ambitions, adding that the arrival of Saad, Fahim, Sohel Rana, Shahriar Emon, and Shakil Ahad brings their total confirmed squad depth to 29 players. When contacted, Shahriar Emon expressed his delight at joining Mohammedan, though he preferred not to elaborate on the details of his contract just yet. Saad Uddin was unavailable for immediate comment.

Alongside local talent, the club is actively reshaping its foreign player contingent. Mostakur Rahman confirmed that Uzbek midfielder Muzaffar Muzaffarov will be retained from last season’s squad, whilst the remaining three foreign spots will be filled by high-calibre new arrivals. To ensure quality recruitment, Mohammedan is dispatching a delegation to Uzbekistan to scout potential candidates directly.

The traditional black-and-whites are also seeking leadership from abroad for their coaching setup. The club is currently exploring options to recruit a head coach from Uzbekistan, whilst simultaneously holding active discussions with their former Australian coach, Sean Lane. With heavy investments in both squad depth and coaching staff, Mohammedan is positioning itself as a primary title contender for the upcoming campaign.
