Dhaka University (DU) has decided that female students wearing the niqab or hijab will be identified at examination centers by female teachers and staff, ensuring proper verification while respecting their religious attire.
The decision was made during a meeting of the university’s deans’ committee, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan, according to a press release issued yesterday.
If necessary, a female assistant proctor will assist in the identification process, the statement added. Additionally, the university is exploring the possibility of introducing fingerprinting or a biometric system for verification in the future.
