Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has stated that no reform will be meaningful unless the safety and security of citizens are guaranteed.
He made these remarks on Tuesday, 29 July, during a joint discussion organised by “Amra BNP Poribar” (We Are BNP Family) and “Mayer Dak” (A Mother’s Call).

The event was held at Banani Kamal Atatürk Field as part of a month-long campaign commemorating the July Mass Uprising. The BNP Secretary General was present at the launch of the programme titled ‘Children in Democratic March’, jointly hosted by the two organisations.
Mirza Fakhrul’s remarks reflect the party’s strong position on human rights, accountability, and state responsibility—particularly concerning enforced disappearances, an issue that remains a focal point in Bangladesh’s political and human rights landscape.
His speech also signals BNP’s future policy direction and its commitment to justice and welfare for families affected by political repression, should the party return to power.
