Naomi Osaka, a four-time Grand Slam champion, announced on Monday that she has ended her coaching partnership with renowned tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou, less than a year after they joined forces.
In a message shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the former world number one wrote:
“Merci Patrick… it was such a great experience learning from you.”
Osaka began working with the French coach in September 2023, following her return to professional tennis after a year-long maternity break. Mouratoglou is best known for his long-standing coaching relationship with Serena Williams, guiding her through much of her record-breaking career.
Osaka’s Recent Form and Rankings
| Year | Event | Performance | World Ranking |
| 2023 | Maternity Leave | Did not compete | N/A |
| 2024 | French Open | First Round Exit | 49 |
| 2024 | Wimbledon | Third Round Exit | 49 |
Since returning to the tour post-motherhood, Osaka has found it difficult to regain her pre-hiatus form and consistency. Currently ranked world number 49, her performances in Grand Slam events this year have fallen short of expectations.
While no immediate plans for her next coaching move were announced, Osaka’s split with Mouratoglou suggests she may be looking to make adjustments to her team as she works toward rediscovering her peak performance.
