Five illegal Shaplapata fish have been seized from a passenger bus travelling from Dhaka to Baufal and Dashmina. The total weight of the confiscated fish was 498 kilograms, approximately twelve and a half mounds.

The seizure took place around 12 noon on Sunday (30 November) during an operation in front of the Baufal police station.

According to the Wildlife Conservation and Security Act 2012, catching, killing, transporting, or selling Shaplapata fish is strictly prohibited. Despite this, the fish were brought from Dhaka to Baufal through smuggling.

Baufal Forest Department officer Badiuzzaman Sohag said that, based on confidential information, they learned that a bus of Antra Transport was carrying illegal Shaplapata fish. The authorities conducted a raid and seized the fish. Legal action will be taken regarding the incident.
