Shimanto Bank has entered into a strategic partnership with Astha Life Insurance Company Ltd through a formal memorandum of understanding (MoU), aimed at enhancing financial protection for its credit cardholders. The agreement was signed at the bank’s head office, marking a significant step towards integrating banking services with comprehensive insurance coverage.

Under this arrangement, credit cardholders of Shimanto Bank will be automatically covered under a Credit Shield Insurance scheme provided by Astha Life Insurance Company Ltd. The initiative is designed to safeguard customers and their families against unforeseen financial hardships, ensuring that outstanding credit card liabilities are managed in the event of untimely circumstances affecting the cardholder.

The Credit Shield Insurance scheme is widely regarded as an important financial safety mechanism, particularly in modern banking environments where credit usage is increasing. Such schemes typically offer protection in cases of death, disability, or critical illness, thereby preventing undue financial burden on the cardholder’s family. In this context, the partnership aims to provide peace of mind while promoting responsible credit usage.

The MoU was formally signed by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Shimanto Bank, Md Nurul Azim, and the Chief Executive Officer of Astha Life Insurance Company Ltd, Brigadier General Shah Sagirul Islam (Retd), representing their respective institutions. The signing reflects a shared commitment to expanding value-added services and strengthening customer-centric financial solutions.

Representing Astha Life Insurance Company Ltd were Additional Managing Director and Divisional Head of Sales and Marketing Samira Yunus, and Senior Executive Vice President of Administration and General Services Lt Col Md Khairul Bashar (Retd), along with other senior executives.

The collaboration reflects a growing trend within the financial sector, where banks are increasingly partnering with insurance providers to offer integrated financial solutions.
