India’s President, Droupadi Murmu, has extended warm greetings to Bangladesh on the occasion of its Independence and National Day, underscoring the deep-rooted friendship and enduring partnership between the two neighbouring countries. In a formal message conveyed on Wednesday, 25 March, through the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, she conveyed her best wishes to the President of Bangladesh, Mohammed Shahabuddin, as well as to the friendly people of Bangladesh.

In her message, President Murmu expressed heartfelt greetings on behalf of the Government and people of India. She highlighted that the national day of Bangladesh is not only a moment of pride and reflection for its citizens but also a symbol of shared history and mutual respect between the two nations. The statement emphasised that India values its relationship with Bangladesh as one built on trust, cooperation, and long-standing cultural affinity.
