Puja Prepares to Take Her Music to London’s Durga Puja Stages

Bengali singer Puja is preparing to perform at several concerts in London during the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, adding an international dimension to an already busy period marked by new music and regular stage appearances.

Badhan Sarker Puja, a popular voice among the younger generation, has recently been receiving positive feedback for her latest song, ‘Nojor Jeno Na Lage’, a duet performed with fellow singer Mohammad Milon. According to Puja, the song has already attracted more than 200,000 views and listens on YouTube. She said the track has reached audiences organically, while its use in short-form videos on TikTok has also helped broaden its reach.

Puja said she was pleased by the response, particularly at a time when the number of views generated by new songs on YouTube may not always reflect their actual popularity among listeners. The song’s presence on social media has given it an additional avenue to connect with audiences, and the singer remains hopeful that it will continue to gain momentum.

The singer is also working on several new projects. For the upcoming Durga Puja season, she has recorded a Rabindra Sangeet, with music arrangement by Tanvir Alam Sajib. A music video for the song is expected to be produced soon, adding another layer to the project and giving audiences a fresh presentation of her interpretation of the classic Bengali repertoire.

Puja has also completed two new songs with Kazi Shuvo. Another duet with Mohammad Milon is in the pipeline, suggesting that her current musical schedule is being shaped by a mix of contemporary releases and traditional Bengali music.

Alongside studio work, stage performances continue to occupy much of her time. The rainy season has led to fewer outdoor concerts, but Puja has remained active through corporate and indoor events. She recently performed at several programmes in the capital’s Gulshan and Uttara areas, maintaining regular contact with live audiences.

She was also scheduled to perform at a concert in Khagrachhari on 5 August. However, the engagement will no longer take place after differences emerged between the singer and the organisers, according to Puja. Her immediate schedule therefore remains focused largely on other stage commitments and ongoing recording projects.

International performances are now also becoming part of her plans. Puja recently returned from a week-long holiday in Malaysia, which she took to mark her husband Shubhankar Sen’s birthday. Her attention has since turned towards the upcoming Durga Puja season and the possibility of performing for Bengali audiences in London.

She is expected to take part in several concerts in the British capital during the festival period. Puja has said that the visa process for the trip has already begun, as preparations move forward for the overseas engagements.

For Bengali artists, Durga Puja has traditionally been an important period for cultural programmes and live performances, both in Bangladesh and among diaspora communities abroad. London, with its sizeable Bengali-speaking population, regularly hosts cultural events around the festival, creating opportunities for visiting performers to connect with audiences beyond Bangladesh.

If the plans proceed as expected, Puja will join the celebrations with a programme that reflects her current musical journey, combining her latest contemporary releases with her wider repertoire. Her London appearances could also provide an opportunity to strengthen her connection with overseas Bengali audiences while continuing her growing schedule of live performances at home and abroad.
