Salahuddin Ammar, General Secretary of the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RAKSU), has been permanently expelled from Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir over serious allegations involving post-trading, illicit financial transactions, laptop theft, and moral misconduct. Official documents signed by former and current leadership of the Rajshahi University branch confirm that Ammar’s organizational rank of ‘Sathi’ (Associate) was formally revoked after he failed to respond satisfactorily to the charges against him.
Three separate internal letters obtained by reporters detail the timeline of disciplinary proceedings against Ammar. According to the documents, the Rajshahi University branch of Chhatra Shibir initially suspended his ‘Sathi’ status on 4 February 2025. A letter signed by the then branch president and RAKSU Vice-President, Mostakur Rahman Zahid, revealed that allegations published across national news outlets and social platforms were reviewed during a monthly secretariat meeting on 3 February 2025.
The charges against Ammar stemmed from incidents during the July Uprising, including his alleged involvement in stealing laptops from the Rajshahi Nagar Bhaban, trading leadership posts for money within the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement’s city and district committees, and engaging in personal conduct inconsistent with the organization’s moral code. The executive body suspended his rank pending a formal explanation, warning that further organizational measures would follow if the allegations were substantiated.
On 11 September 2025, the university branch resolved to permanently strip Ammar of his status. A follow-up letter issued on 19 September 2025 by Mostakur Rahman Zahid confirmed the final expulsion, noting that despite repeated attempts to guide and reform his behavior over an extended period, Ammar continued to engage in activities violating organizational discipline.
The stance was further reinforced on 31 July 2026 through an official circular signed by current Rajshahi University branch president Mujahid Faisal. Reaffirming the previous expulsion decisions, the directive instructed party activists to refrain from making online or offline comments regarding Ammar’s activities. The letter advised general members to sever all personal and organizational ties with him, restricting interactions strictly to official RAKSU administrative duties for elected student union representatives.
Confirming Ammar’s prior organizational ties and dismissal, Rajshahi University Chhatra Shibir General Secretary Mehedi Hasan explained that Ammar initially attained the rank of ‘Sathi’ while studying at Tamirul Millat Kamil Madrasah before his record was transferred to the university. Hasan stated that while the organization provided him with protocol and shelter during the July movement, subsequent evidence of financial scandals and ideological infractions led to his suspension in February 2025 and final expulsion in September 2025.
Multiple telephone calls placed to RAKSU General Secretary Salahuddin Ammar for comment went unanswered.
