Chaldal’s Jashore office is facing a serious financial crisis as over 600 employees have not received their salaries for three to four months. Among them is Akash Akbar, a Premium Care Associate who has worked at the office for four years. From December 2025 to February 2026, he has not received a single month’s pay, a situation that mirrors the plight of hundreds of his colleagues.
The unpaid salaries have led to growing frustration among staff, prompting a work stoppage that began Monday morning. Employees gathered at the office and refused to perform their duties, forcing management to issue a notice announcing the suspension of afternoon operations. The move has further intensified employee discontent.
Chaldal established its Jashore call centre in 2019 at the Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park, occupying the 12th and 14th floors of a 12,000-square-foot facility. The office serves as a major customer service hub and currently employs around 600 staff. The suspension of salaries began in December 2025, and staff members have since demanded immediate payment.
Akash Akbar stated, “My salary from December to February is unpaid. Management offers promises when asked, but no actual payments are made. Meanwhile, we have to use our own funds for transport and other daily expenses.”
Many of the employees are undergraduate students who rely on their salaries to cover tuition and living costs. The financial strain has forced some staff to resign. Mapping Associate G.M. Durlav Hasan left the company in February after months of unpaid wages. He told the press, “I left the company because no salaries were being paid. My arrears amount to 34,500 taka. At least 600 employees are in the same situation, none have received their dues.”
When asked why salaries have not been disbursed, Chaldal Jashore office spokesperson Mithun acknowledged, “We are facing an unexpected financial crisis. State-level funding delays have prevented new investment, and as a result, we are unable to pay staff. Due to employee unrest, afternoon operations have been suspended.”
| Employee Name | Position | Months Unpaid | Remarks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Akash Akbar | Premium Care Associate | 3 | Promises made but salaries not received |
| G.M. Durlav Hasan | Mapping Associate | 3+ | Resigned; arrears 34,500 taka |
| Other Employees | Various | 3–4 | Majority affected; unable to cover daily costs |
The ongoing salary suspension has created uncertainty for employees, affecting their daily lives and educational commitments. Staff have demanded urgent intervention, emphasising that the situation is impacting not just their finances but also their well-being and morale.
