Senior Adviser to Focus on Labour Market Expansion During Malaysia Visit

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed that during Senior Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus’s upcoming visit to Malaysia, around five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed.

This information was shared by Shah Asif Rahman, Director General of Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a briefing held on Sunday (10 August) at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital. The Senior Adviser’s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, was also present.

Areas of the Visit

The three-day visit by the Senior Adviser will prioritise several critical issues including:

• Expansion of the labour market
• Repatriation of Rohingya refugees
• Proper utilisation of deep-sea resources
• Agricultural development
• Strengthening bilateral trade relations

Official Itinerary and Background

On Monday, the Senior Adviser is scheduled to travel to Kuala Lumpur at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. This trip marks the return visit following the Bangladeshi government chief’s previous engagement, when Anwar Ibrahim visited Dhaka in October last year upon Dr Yunus’s invitation.

Accompanying the Senior Adviser are expected to be several advisors including Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Tauhid Hossain, Energy Adviser Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan, and Legal Adviser Asif Nazrul.

Expected Meetings and Agreements

Shah Asif Rahman emphasised that during the visit, ASEAN member countries including Malaysia will be urged to cooperate on the repatriation of Rohingya refugees. Additionally, substantial emphasis will be placed on expanding labour markets, the sustainable use of deep-sea resources, agricultural advancement, and enhancing bilateral commercial relations.
