A further seven children have died in Bangladesh within the latest 24-hour reporting period due to Measles and related symptoms, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the seven deaths recorded between 8:00 am on Wednesday and 8:00 am on Thursday, three were confirmed cases of measles, while four deaths were attributed to complications consistent with measles symptoms. The figures were published in the DGHS’s regular measles bulletin issued on Thursday.
During the same 24-hour period, health authorities recorded 1,423 additional children presenting with measles-like symptoms across the country. This brings the total number of reported symptomatic cases since 15 March to 59,279.
The bulletin further stated that 208 new confirmed measles cases were identified within the latest reporting window. Since 15 March, the cumulative number of laboratory-confirmed measles cases has reached 8,275.
Hospitalisation data indicate that 46,407 children with measles-related symptoms have been admitted to hospitals over the same period. Of these, 42,336 children have recovered and been discharged, according to DGHS records.
In terms of mortality, the total number of deaths linked to measles symptoms since 15 March now stands at 405, while confirmed measles deaths are reported at 83. Overall, this brings the total number of deaths recorded in the reporting system to 488.
Health officials continue to monitor the situation through daily surveillance reports, tracking both confirmed infections and suspected symptomatic cases separately in order to assess the progression of the outbreak.

The DGHS continues to issue daily updates as part of its national surveillance system, distinguishing between confirmed measles infections and clinically suspected cases presenting with similar symptoms.
