The legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle may have passed away on April 12, 2026, but her timeless voice continues to resonate deeply with millions of music lovers across the globe. In a poignant celebration of her extraordinary musical legacy, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is set to feature prominently in AR Rahman’s upcoming tribute music video, titled “Asha Forever”.
The special project, slated for release on World Music Day, brings together two of Indian cinema’s most revered cultural icons to honour a titan of the music industry. Rahman announced the superstar’s involvement on X, expressing his gratitude to the actor.
“A heartfelt thank you to dear Shah Rukh Khan for graciously agreeing to be part of Asha Bhosle ji’s tribute music video,” Rahman wrote.
Khan and Bhosle shared a warm, enduring bond over the decades. The actor has frequently spoken of his profound admiration and respect for the veteran singer, making his participation in this visual and auditory tribute a deeply personal endeavour.
The composition itself promises to be a multi-generational masterclass. It features a rich tapestry of voices, including Rahman’s own vocals, seamlessly blended with rare archival recordings of Bhosle. In June, the Academy Award-winning composer released a teaser that offered a glimpse into the collaborative studio environment, showcasing artists, musicians, and performers from diverse backgrounds coming together in harmony.
Significantly, the tribute was originally conceived while Bhosle was still alive. Rahman revealed that the team had fervently hoped the legendary singer would be able to witness firsthand the immense love and gratitude woven into the project.
One of the most emotional highlights of the teaser is the inclusion of Bhosle herself. Having participated in the initial stages of production, the icon can be seen in the studio working alongside Rahman and fellow musicians, lending her inimitable spirit to a project designed to transcend generations, languages, and borders.
AR Rahman has described the tribute as a humble offering, uniting various traditions and sounds to honour a career that shaped the landscape of Indian music for over half a century. While the complete track remains under wraps, the teaser has already sparked immense anticipation among fans worldwide, eager to witness a fitting cinematic and musical farewell to an unmatched legend.
